Know what a check means.
The rules were reviewed against Google's primary documentation on October 13, 2026. Shelfcheck is independent and is not endorsed by Google.
Basic issues
The checker looks for ID, link, image link, availability and price; title or structured title; description or structured description. It checks unique IDs, ordinary text lengths, absolute HTTP URLs, basic price formatting and supported availability and condition values.
Preorder and backorder need an availability date. Its date syntax, timing and page agreement are not validated. A zero price creates a review note because limited exceptions exist.
Review notes, not guarantees
Price syntax accepts an uppercase three letter code, but does not verify that it is an active ISO currency or supported for your market. Every supplied price receives a manual review note. Prices with more than two decimal places are accepted and get a separate note because Google rounds them to two decimal places.
Structured title and description alternatives count as present, but their subattributes are not parsed. They receive a review note. AI created text must use the appropriate structured fields under Google's rules.
Outside this checker
Merchant eligibility, country and category requirements, policy compliance, shipping, tax, GTIN, brand, MPN, variants, image dimensions and page agreement are not assessed. URLs are not visited. Neither a report nor an empty issue list guarantees acceptance or sales.
CSV scope
Only UTF8 comma CSV is supported. Tab separated feeds, XML, Sheets and integrations are not supported. This CSV is a working format for the checker, not a promise that Google accepts that same file format. Header names are trimmed and normalized to lowercase; duplicate headers are rejected. Row numbers count CSV records including the header, not physical lines when a quoted cell spans lines.
Limits are product choices, not Google limits: 2 MiB, 5000 product rows and the first 300 findings on screen. The download contains all findings. Exported fields beginning with spreadsheet formula characters are prefixed with an apostrophe.
